Lettuce Leaves, But Scallions Stay

Remember those lettuces that I accidentallyforgot to picture last time?

I completely did not give them enough credit. They have stolen the spotlight for the last two weeks.

Credited by one as ‘superhuman lettuce’ they are more than a foot in width and grow into rather impressive Christmas tree look-alikes if left to bolt. (Garden term alert: bolting refers to the plant transitioning rapidly from mainly plant to flower and seed growth. You can usually spot an elongated stalk as an indicator).

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate its glory…seeing as the next week or so will be the final harvest of lettuce for the summer. The scallions in between will be plentiful for a long while, however.
Just don’t tell the lettuce that.
